| There is no sane or good reason
to continue the pollution associated with and resulting from the
operation of Salem Harbor Power Plant. In addition it is a dreadful
eyesore. Sadly, Salem has been associated with some tragic decisions
regarding people in the surrounding area for over four hundred years.
Let's Give Salem at last a clean start. Let's begin by permanently
closing the Dominion Salem Harbor Power Plant. |
| I'm 100% behind closure of the
planet! |
| Dominion had revenue of 16
BILLION DOLLARS!!! last year with a profit of $2.5 BILLION!!!! but yet
the taxes they pay have gone DOWN from $9 million to $4.5 million since
1997 but the homeowners of Salem have had taxes go up 90%!!?????? How
and why is this fair?? We the people of Salem should decide what should
go on that land and as one RESIDENT stated, COAL OR STROLL?? I SAY
STROLL!!! LET'S MAKE IT A PLACE FOR THE CITIZENS TO USE AND ENJOY RATHER
THAN A TOXIC POWER PLANT AS HAS BEEN FOR THE PAST 56 YEARS!! |
| Salem is a great city and the
plant is taking away from a brighter future. It's time to close! |
| Did you notice the plant when you
bought your house? It's sure nice of all you Marbleheaders to tell us
what's good for Salem. If you don't like it...MOVE! |
| I have a seven year old girl and
we live in Salem. It horrifies me to know what this plant dumps into our
air on a daily basis. I want my daughter to grow up healthy. Let me know
what I can do to help. |
| As a resident of Marblehead and a
registered voter in Massachusetts I want that killing power plant shut
down now. |
| As a resident of Marblehead and a
registered voter in Massachusetts I want that killing power plant shut
down now. |
| This is a no-brainer. Close the
plant and let's start working on our great new future. The time has come
to act. Search your conscience. We don't want to look back and say we
could have changed this - and did nothing. |
| Manifest Destiny - enough is
enough!!!! The antiquated facility must be closed for the sake of our
health as well as the next generation. |
| I am troubled by the unusually
high cancer rates on the North Shore. I am also troubled by the smell
the plant produces. Send the plant back to Virginia with its owners. |
| revolution begins at home .Our
planet is home our activism counts . I will be making flyers to get
Beverly business owners involved. |
| We live in Beverly across the
harbor from the power plant. We have always had black coal dust covering
our porch furniture and settling on the window sills. Thank you for
taking on this cause. We are happy to add our names to the petition. |
| there should be no question about
the Salem power plant - it is filthy, covering the surrounding area with
coal dust and who-knows-what-else. This can not be healthy and should
not be allowed to continued. The old arguments no longer hold and Salem
needs to give up the "property tax" argument and recognize that this
pollution can no longer continue --- as they export their property tax
burden to customers as part of the electric rate. |
| I suspect that the energy
produced by this plant is superfluous and would like to see Dominion
substantiate its claim that the plant is needed. |
| I want to see the Salem Coal
Plant shut down for good. My Uncle lived across the harbor from the
plant for more than 30 years. He died last year from lung cancer and
never smoked a day in his life. I'll do whatever I can to help this
effort. |
| The vision of Salem Green Harbor
looks awesome! |
| As a worker in Salem, I am
extremely concerned about the health risks associated with the Salem
Power Plant. I advocate that the plant be closed and resources be
directed to the development of green fuel sources on this site. |
| CLOSE THE SALEM HARBOR POWER
PLANT NOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!! |
